I dont know for sure the goal he set, but he was voted most likely to win the World Series his high school year by his classmates. So I would say his goal was possibly to be the best SS to ever play for the Yankees or maybe ever. I think his philosophy of others accomplishes is congrats to you, but baseball is a team game, so in the off season we can reminense about your goal you set as a player by yourself. He is a great team player.

By the way, I am not a Yankees fan but I love baseball.
