Big Market Bias in Yahoo Fantasy Baseball?
Yahoo seems to have a pretty major bias in having players available in their fantasy baseball league. Teams like the Red Sox (my home team) and Yankees have every mediocre prospect listed to pick up as free agents. I can draft EVERY closer option for the Red Sox, all 6 of them. On the other hand, Al Reyes, possibly the best closing option for the Devil Rays? Not available. The same is true for some players on the Nationals as well. Has anyone else noticed this?
Entirely right on the expert opinions, but I kind of expect that. But examples in the system itself are what I’m really curious about- like missing/poorly updated players.
Absolutely.
It’s not just Yahoo, but they seem to be the worst. Their fantasy “expert” staff leaves something to be desired, in both baseball and football.
Most of the “experts” writing for websites and magazines are based in major markets. They are most familiar with the larger market teams, and base their cheatsheets accordingly.
It’s a shame, because a no-name on a small market team could be a real diamond, and should be available to those in the know.
You shouldn’t be penalized by having to wait for a guy to appear in the system, then put a claim in for him, when you knew something all along. Takes the fun out prospecting…
